What kinds of bills do you have to pay?

Besides the basic utilities such as water and electricity, I also pay for my phone subscription. Although I’m not in a contract right now, I pay a monthly fee. I also have a Netflix subscription, and I’m planning to contribute towards the mortgage of the house in the future.

How do you usually pay your bills – in cash or by another method? Why?

In my household, I ensure that all of my payments are made through my credit card. I have set up an automatic credit for a specific billing cycle. This helps me avoid any overdraft payments. For instance, I make sure that bills like the internet are paid on the 12th, which ensures that my card does not get over-drafted.

Have you ever forgotten to pay a bill? Why or why not?

When I was younger, there were instances when I forgot to pay bills. It happened because I didn’t realize that I had subscribed to certain services. I remember one incident with a fitness subscription. It offered a two-week free trial, but they didn’t inform me when the trial ended. As a result, there were some attempts to debit my card, in order for me not to incur an overdraft, I allow the charge to push through but contact customer service and request a cancellation and refund.

Is there anything you could do to make your bills cheaper? Why or why not?

Currently, the biggest expense in terms of my bills is electricity. I could find ways to reduce it, but I prefer not to because one of the main contributors to high electricity bills is the air conditioning and lights. Considering that it is part of my job and I want to ensure a well-lit and comfortable room, especially in a hot climate, I would rather pay the higher bills than compromise on my comfort and work environment.
