IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Geography

1. How do you like geography?

Personally, I don’t have strong feelings about geography. My primary and secondary school goals were focused on achieving good scores, regardless of my personal sentiments. Memorization was key, but fortunately, my teacher’s enthusiasm made the subject more engaging compared to my friends who found it excessively boring due to the need for extensive memorization.

2. Do you think geography is useful?

While I acknowledge the utility of geography in certain professions, as a finance major, I don’t see its direct implication in my field. Currently, my focus is on acquiring knowledge and securing a good job, where geography doesn’t appear to be particularly practical for me.

3. Have you ever learned geography?

Beyond school, I haven’t devoted much time to learning geography. I may have encountered some geographical information in movies, but it’s not a subject I pursued beyond the academic requirements. As a college student, my focus is on areas that offer long-term benefits.

4. Do you want to be a geography teacher?

Although I have great respect for teachers, I don’t envision myself becoming one in the future, especially not as a geography teacher. However, if I gain substantial experience in my chosen profession and potentially become a professor in a field related to my major, that might be a possibility down the road.
