IELTS Writing Task 2 – 文化 Museums and Galleries
IELTS Writing Task 2 – 文化 Museums and Galleries Obsolete
Nowadays some people claim that public museums and art galleries will not be needed because people can see historical objects and works of art by using a computer. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?(文化)
Introduction
Due to the availability of virtual reality and the internet, some people argue that public museums and art galleries have become obsolete, as individuals can appreciate historical art and works from the comfort of their homes. However, I strongly disagree with this notion as museums and art galleries serve not only as venues for public viewing but also as vital centers for preserving and safeguarding these valuable artifacts. Hence, it is crucial to maintain these physical spaces.
Body 1
Museums and art galleries that house significant artifacts play a crucial role in our society. They provide a safe environment for delicate artworks that require specific temperature control and enhanced security measures. For instance, the renowned museums in London hold numerous historical artworks by great artists, ensuring their preservation and protection from theft or damage.
Body 2
While virtual images may be accessible to the public, the true appreciation of art is best experienced through physical encounters. Virtual reality and online images do not capture the full essence and beauty of the actual artwork. For example, I have seen pictures of the Mona Lisa on the internet, but when I viewed it in person, I was captivated by its deeper beauty and the life-like presence that cannot be replicated through technology.
Body 3
Public museums and art galleries are not mere establishments; they hold significant historical value. Many of these buildings have their own storied pasts, showcasing a much greater historical narrative. For instance, the Tower of London, which houses various museums and art galleries. The tower itself embodies a rich history, not only for the English but also for the entire European nation. This demonstrates the interconnectedness between the artwork and the physical space, an experience that cannot be replicated on a computer screen.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while artworks may be accessible online through virtual reality or high-resolution images, I firmly disagree that public museums and art galleries have become obsolete.
