IELTS Speaking Part 2 and 3 : Taken Photos

IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Describe a place where you have taken photos more than once

You should say:

  • Where the place is
  • When you took the photos
  • What special features the photos taken there have
  • And explain why you have been there more than once to take photos

Version 1

Whenever I visit Shanghai, I find myself drawn to the bay area multiple times. The view there changes dramatically depending on the time of day—serene in the morning, chaotic in the afternoon, and tranquil or vibrant in the evening. Each time I visit, there’s a new story to capture, which is why I’ve taken countless pictures of the same scenic view.

Moreover, there’s a wonderful restaurant in that spot that offers a unique perspective blending the land, river, and people. It’s not just about the view; I also enjoy the food there. Whenever my family and I visit Shanghai, this area is always a must-visit for us, and I inevitably end up taking multiple pictures. It’s a way for me to share my location with friends and show them what I’m experiencing.

On social media, everyone has their own story to tell about this place. Depending on the time of day—morning, afternoon, or evening—each picture captures a different mood and atmosphere. If you’re looking for lively scenes, evening photos showcase vibrant colors and bustling activity. For a quieter experience, morning shots around 10:00 AM reveal fewer people, while afternoons are ideal for observing the hustle and bustle of daily life.

In essence, capturing these moments through photography is not just about showing off; it’s also a way for me to appreciate and share the diverse experiences this area offers throughout the day.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 – Describe a place where you have taken photos more than once

1. Do you like to take photos?

Personally, I enjoy taking photos of places, food, and sometimes people. However, I don’t like being in photos myself. I just like capturing different things. When I’m bored, I often check my photo album to see what I’ve captured. It brings back memories or gives me something to post if I’m really bored.

2. Where do people often like to take photos?

People often like to take photos at famous landmarks or popular places. Taking pictures is a way to show off and feel good about yourself when people like your posts on social media. Any place or location that looks good in photos is where people take pictures the most.

3. Who would like to take photos more often, young people or older people?

Both young and older people take a similar amount of photos. Older people around 40 or 50 can be tech-savvy and post a lot of pictures. They might not worry about the angle as much as younger people, who often try to get the perfect shot with the right lighting and angle.

4. Would you pay a lot of money to hire a photographer?

In the past, I wouldn’t have paid a lot for a photographer. But once, we had to hire one for a special event, and the pictures were amazing. A professional photographer can capture genuine happiness and moments that posed photos with phones might miss. So now, for big events like weddings or important family gatherings, I’d consider hiring a photographer.

5. Do you think being a photographer is a good job?

Photography used to be a good job, but nowadays, it’s just one part of a bigger skill set. With so many good cameras around, the demand for highly skilled photographers isn’t as high as it used to be. It’s not always easy for photographers to find clients willing to pay a lot for their work anymore.

6. On what occasions do people need formal photos?

People need formal photos for work-related occasions, like job interviews or marketing where a good quality photo is important. Having a professional-looking photo shows that you take things seriously and care about making a positive impression.
