IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Describe an Outdoor Activity You Did

  • What the activity was
  • When and where you did it
  • Who you did it with
  • And explain why you enjoyed it

Version 1

In a city a few hours away from where I live, there’s this awesome activity where you can go to a farm and pick strawberries. For just $10, they give you a big basket to fill with as many strawberries as you can. It’s one of the only places in our country where you can do this kind of thing. A while back, me and my friends decided to check it out. It was really fun, but it’s definitely not a trip for people who just want to relax. You have to put in some effort, but luckily, it’s not too hot because the farm is up in the mountains where it’s cooler. Most people start picking around 5:00 in the morning and finish up by 8:00 to avoid getting sunburned.

It’s nice because you don’t have to talk much with the other people picking strawberries. You can just focus on picking and enjoy the berries. I think it’s definitely worth another visit. Plus, it’s a great way to spend time outdoors and get some exercise at the same time. And the best part is, you get to take home all the strawberries you picked and enjoy them with your friends and family. It’s like a little taste of summer right in the middle of the city.

Yes, outdoor activities are important because they let you connect with others, stay healthy, and enjoy the outdoors. Being outside gives you fresh air, chances to hang out with friends, and can make you feel better overall.

2. Do people go outdoors more or less now than in the past?

People go outdoors less now than before because there are more things to do inside, like watching TV or playing video games. Also, sometimes the weather is not nice, so people stay inside more often.

3. What can people do outdoors besides exercising?

Besides exercising, people can enjoy the view, hang out with friends, soak up the sun, and admire nature. Just being outside and looking around can make you feel good.

4. When do people usually go outdoors to get close to nature?

Kids usually like outdoor activities in winter because they can handle the cold and love playing in the snow. But adults often prefer indoor activities during winter to stay warm and cozy.
