IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Good View

What is your favorite place? Why?

I could mention many places I have traveled to, both in my country and abroad. But in the end, my favorite place is still my home. After a bad day, I just want to go home and nothing else. My parents always told me that home is a special place, so I rarely invite people into my house, especially my room. It is my personal space, where I can be myself. I might seem a bit selfish, but I don’t even let my children play in my room. It is a private area for me.

Would you take photos when you see a good view?

Yes, I take photos of good views but not of myself in those pictures. I think pictures of myself can ruin the view. I like to remember the place by the view itself. I take many pictures of different views, like morning, night, and evening, because the mood changes with the time of day. I want to capture these moments.

Have you seen an unforgettable and beautiful view or scenery?

Yes, I remember a trip up north. It was a 12-hour drive, and the view was amazing. I haven’t seen anything like it in my travels over the past twenty years. You could see South China Sea with green trees and blue seawater. It was early in the morning, so the air was fresh. I haven’t had a chance to return there. It was a memorable trip because it was the last one I had with my father. The beauty of the place, with a big bridge and fewer cars, felt like something out of a drama.

What is the view like around the place where you live?

I live in the countryside now, where there are mostly farms. I am happy that I can see greenery with just a 2-minute walk. In summer, it can be very hot, but if you go in the late afternoon, you can see the beauty and peace of the place. A 7-minute walk takes you to a spot where you can see the sunrise and sunset. The changing colors from yellow to purple to red are amazing. It makes me realize how small we are compared to the vast world, and our problems seem small in this large perspective.
