IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Feeling Bored

Do you think childhood is boring or adulthood is boring?

This is such a cool question. When I was a kid, I thought being an adult would be amazing—you know, waking up whenever you wanted, eating whatever you liked, and buying stuff for yourself. But now that I’m an adult? Man, I miss being a kid! Back then, everything felt like an adventure, and there were always fun things to explore. Honestly, it all depends on your perspective. Some kids think their lives are exciting, while others wish they had the freedom adults enjoy. And adults? Some love their independence, while others miss the carefree days of childhood. So, which one’s boring? It really just depends on how you live your life.

What do you do when you feel bored?

When I’m bored, the first thing I do—don’t judge me—is grab a snack. It’s been my go-to since I was a kid, especially salty stuff like chips. After that, I might throw on a movie to keep my mind busy, and once that’s done, I usually jump into something else. Sometimes I nap, start a new project, or even clean the house—yeah, boredom can make me productive! What I end up doing really depends on how I’m feeling at the moment.

When do you feel bored?

You know what’s funny? I feel bored when everything is running smoothly. Sounds weird, right? But when work or life gets too predictable and repetitive, I just start itching for something exciting or out of the ordinary. That’s probably why people create little distractions at work—to shake things up. It’s like, when things are too perfect or predictable, it feels like something’s missing. So, yeah, boredom hits me when life gets too comfortable.

Do you often feel bored?

Oh, absolutely. I get bored all the time—it’s a daily thing. I’ll start something super exciting, and then boom, I lose interest and move on to something else. That’s why I always have a bunch of projects going at once. Whenever boredom kicks in, I just switch to a different task to keep things fresh. It’s my way of staying productive while dealing with it.
