IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Morning Routines

1. What do you do in the mornings?

My morning routine kicks off around 4:00 a.m. During this quiet time, I check my emails and any school admin notifications for special announcements or missed tasks. I find that being up early allows me to get a head start on the day. I spend some time studying, and I’ve noticed that early mornings lead to better memory retention and increased productivity. By 6:00 a.m., I’m already out jogging while others are still waking up. I shower and have breakfast by 6:30 a.m., and I’m off to school by 6:45 a.m., feeling energized while others are still getting out of bed.

2. Is breakfast important?

Breakfast used to be essential for me, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that it’s not always necessary. If I’ve had a satisfying dinner the night before, sometimes all I need is a cup of coffee or tea and a light snack like bread to start my day. Unless I have a particularly demanding day ahead, like an exam, I might opt for a more substantial meal. But most of the time, a simple snack from a convenience store is enough to fuel me up and provide a bit of warmth in the morning.

3. What is your morning routine?

My typical morning routine begins at 4:00 a.m. with a bit of studying, followed by exercise around 6:00 a.m. I head to school by 6:45 or 7:00 a.m. and stay there until around 11:30 a.m., when I have lunch. This routine is consistent on school days. During vacations, I still wake up at 4:00 a.m., but I’m a bit more relaxed. I might have breakfast later, around 7:00 a.m., or even join friends for breakfast at 10:00 a.m.

4. Do you like to get up early in the morning?

Honestly, as someone who wakes up at 4:00 a.m., I can’t say I particularly enjoy early mornings. However, I’ve learned the importance of self-discipline. Despite the initial struggle of waking up early, I challenge myself to stick to this routine, sometimes even waking up before my alarm goes off. Consistency and discipline are key for me, even if it means battling the urge to stay in bed a little longer.
